Defined Networking - is it really the future of networking?
Following
directly on from the keynote, this panel included Pearson, as well as Bruce
Bateman, networking evangelist at Dell, and Atsushi Itwata, from NEC's cloud
system research laboratories.
Dubash
prefaced the discussion with a short presentation by providing some market
statistics on the size of the incumbent market giants, such as Cisco, and
asking whether the proprietary networking companies could continue to rule.
He
then asked the panel questions about that issue, about migration to an SDN,
management issues, the interaction with storage systems, and about the future
of SDN.
